Wholesome home made granola

 

Dedicate one day a week to making your own special nut and fruit packed granola. The wider the variety of nuts, seed and dried fruits, the better for getting in all your nutritional requirements.

Ingredients: Home made Granola

1 bags large oat or barley,

Coconut oil,

Honey,

Cinnamon,

Pink or sea salt,

Pecan nuts, cashew nuts (also consider almonds, walnuts, pumpkin seeds, sunflower seeds)

black raisins, dried figs and dried dates.

Direction:

Gently melt 3 large spoons of coconut oil and 6 large spoons of honey in a deep pan, mix in the oats or barley and stir to coat well. Sprinkle with cinnamon and a few cracks of sea salt.The mixture should look lightly coated (but not too shiny) and should taste sweet. Add more oil and honey as needed.

Transfer straight onto oven tray and roast at 200 degrees celsius just a little higher than the centre of the oven. You need to sit next to the oven and watch with love until the top layer browns. Then remove the tray and mix wellwith a spoon, making sure to scoop in all the edges. Return to oven and repeat this process around 5 times until you have the nice brown colour you like.

Then mix in your choice of roughly chopped nuts and seeds and return for 2-3 more rounds of roasting. Lower the heat to around 170 degrees and be extra careful not to burn the nuts.

Once you are happy, remove from oven and mix in your choice of dried rougly chopped fruits. Set aside and cover with a clean cloth to cool.

Be prepared to be patient and diligent, this could take up to 1.5 hours but you’ll enjoy the sight and smells that fill the room.  ❤️ xXx
